USB Puppy Speakers

Everyone loves a puppy (or two), but those cute, little mongrels could end up being a handful if you do not train them properly along the way. Why not get permanently small puppies in the form of the USB Puppy speakers as they sit adorably on the left and right hand sides of your monitor. Strange to see manufacturer Japan Trust Technology label them as “Wonderful Speakers”. Well, the one on the left is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy while its compatriot on the right is a Dalmatian puppy. The speaker is strategically placed on the dog’s belly, but the way they’re standing allows audio to escape in a decent manner. Strange that a guitar-shaped controller is bundled for the volume - we think it was supposed to be a shape of a bone but the sculptor somehow bungled the whole thing.

The Chocolate Mouse

Here are more chocolate electronics for you to make it staying on a diet a little more difficult. This one is a mouse in the shape of a chunk of chocolate. It even has a bite taken out of it already. It doesn’t exactly look all that ergonomic, but at least it’s in the shape of your favorite candy. This wireless mouse takes a total of 2 different AAA batteries to stay up and running. You can purchase it for £21.99 or about $36 from Lazybone UK.

Wi-Fi TV Concept

Wi-Fi TV conceptForget the fact that this thing looks like some hopped up PSP wearing bright orange sunglasses. The extremely eye-catching WiFi Tv is basically a handheld internet television that is designed to access on-demand TV services that are available on the internet.

The idea is that TV shows and films can be streamed straight from the internet to the 6-inch touchscreen display. It boasts two slide-out speakers that supposedly provide a comfortable hand position, though we don’t see it. There’s even storage for Bluetooth headphones and a charging point.

The Alive Board

the-alive-board
I had a go on an Alive Board a few weeks back and I have to say it is great fun and a lot easier to pickup than a conventional skateboard - being a lot more maneuverability. Super tough plastic decks and aluminium 360 degree incline trucks mean this is built to last. - more info and prices (UK) / (US)

Sony VRD-MC6 DVDirect DVD recorder

dvdirect

Sony’s back with a new DVD recorder in the form of the VRD-MC6 - the next generation multi-function DVDirect DVD recorder which is touted to transfer both high-definition and standard-definition home videos and digital photos to DVD discs without the need for a computer acting as a middleman. What makes the new VRD-MC6 model so special? While we’re going to look at it in further detail right after the jump, let me share with you an open secret - the device comes with a 2.7″ color LCD display that is handy for previewing video files, and you can also use it to check out up to half a dozen digital photos simultaneously. In addition, the wonders of modern technology and miniaturization has made it nearly 60% smaller compared to its predecessor.

According to Shige Nakayama, manager of the DVDirect business at Sony, “Many customers still have their old home movies on tapes and are looking for an easy solution to archive their personal digital imaging content on DVD discs. With the larger built-in LCD color screen in a smaller body, the new DVDirect model makes it easier for customers to transfer the content to DVD discs for archiving, enjoying and sharing with family and friends.” The VRD-MC6 is able to transfer AVCHD quality videos to DVD discs in their native 1080i HD resolution when hooked directly to a Sony hard drive or Memory Stick media-based Handycam camcorder - surely you didn’t expect anything less than that from Sony! AVCHD quality DVDs can also be played back on compatible Blu-ray Disc devices, and these will include other players, computer optical drives and PS3 consoles.

Other features include the ability to transfer standard-definition home videos to DVD discs, Digital Video (i.LINK/FireWire/IEEE-1394) connectivity, Composite Video inputs, and USB support. DVDs recorded this way can be played in most consumer DVD players without any problem. Alternatively, you can use the VRD-MC6 to record digital photos to a DVD as a slideshow directly , as it supports Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, Memory Stick Duo and Memory Stick Pro Duo media, SD/SDHC and xD-picture card media formats. Expect to pick up the DVDirect VRD-MC6 for approximately $229 this September.

Nike T-Shirt Gun

nike-t-shirt-gun

This next device may or may not be real, but it really should be. Some of you may have been at sporting events that had people shoot T-shirts into the crowd, but how would you like to be the one doing the shooting?

I suppose this is the appeal of the “limited edition” T-shirt shooting gun that shoots nothing but “authentic Nike shirts”. It is even engraved with a signature by an authentic Nike Athlete. Do these Nike guys know how to party, or what?

If you want to see it in action, feel free to view the video of the Nike 6.0 Shredders with Steven Jackson after the jump. Yes, it does look fun to have a T-shirt fight.

Not to be a spoiler, but am I really supposed to believe that you can fire a shirt and make the victim wear the shirt? That’s cartoon physics happening here, really. By the way, did you see the smoke coming from these guns? What exactly is creating the firepower here?

Assuming these T-shirt guns are real, I have heard that the price is about $1,500. I think I am going to pass on this one, unless they make a model that doesn’t shoot authentic Nike Shirts. Why should I pay top dollar to shoot high-priced clothes, when all I want to do is shoot ordinary laundry?

iBangle - An iPod on Your Wrist

iBangle - Wrist iPod

iBangle - Wrist iPod

Basically all MP3 players, including the iPod, have not changed a lot lately. We are basically hit with similar designs and only minor modifications. We can say that only the memory is changing as it is getting bigger and bigger at a very fast rate. The good news is that once in a while we are hit with something different. This is exactly the case now.

The iBangle comes to the table with a unique design. We can say that it is daring because we are hit with a gadget that will fit on the wrist and not on the belt. To make it even better, the iBangle is quite good at not slipping. Now to make it special, there are no earphones. This cool gadget will transmit the audio to a pair of wireless earbuds. Track navigation is handled by a track pad that is multi-touch. unfortunately the problem is that we are hit with a concept gadget that was designed by Gopinath Prasana. On the other hand, we sure hope that it will become a reality in the near future.

USB Microscope - Cool Gadget

USB Microscope

USB Microscope

Well, if you ever wanted to know how something looks like when you take a really close look at it and never had enough money to buy a microscope, you have a chance to do this now. NO! Not buy a microscope but use this pretty cool USB Microscope. You just put it in your USB computer slot and voila, instant magnifying. This cool gadget is capable of zooming up to an impressive 200x and there is even included software in the event that you want to film your findings or take pictures. You can use it by hand or put it in a special desktop stand. If light sources are not that bright you will like to know that there is even LED illumination available. This really is a well all-rounder.

Now although we would probably use the USB Microscope only to have fun, we do need to say that this device is really useful for some students out there. You can even use if for science purposes. Examen coins, documents, jewelery and whatever you want. Just keep in mind that the USB Microscope will only work on Windows computers. You will also need at least 384 MB RAM to make it work.

USB Flash Drive Watch

Secret USB Flash Drive Watch

Secret USB Flash Drive Watch

Well, it really seems that a lot of attention is paid to watch gadgets these days. We are now faced with this Secret USB FLash Drive Watch that basically includes a 4 GB USB flash drive, which is hidden inside the watch’s body. This basically means that you can end up stealing whatever piece of information you want or maybe simply wear the watch and use its USB capability when needed. It does not really matter when you need it since $50 is nothing for a true geek and this is exactly how much this cool (or not based on tastes) gadget costs. What bugs me is that nobody thought about this before. I mean we can easily hide a USB flash drive everywhere we want. On the other hand, why should we hide it inside a watch when it can even be carried around in your wallet?

Light bulb Speakers for your iPod and More

Light Bulb Speakers

Light Bulb Speakers

There are quite some interesting gadgets idea running around the Internet when talking about light bulbs that are also speakers. The latest we have seen is definitely good looking. It basically works as a regular light bulb but we also have a good Altec Lansing speaker combined with one Bluetooth transceiver. There is also another part that has to be put into your iPod and then we get to see your favorite music coming out of your light source. The use of such a gadget is without limits. You can simply find a lot of uses and you will surely enjoy it.

Cool Glass Speakers Kenwood SP0001

Kenwood SP0001 Glass Speakers

Kenwood SP0001 Glass Speakers

Most speakers you can buy are basically made out of plastic. In most cases we are talking about a speaker that does not attract us. There are only a few out there that are really special. One of them is Kenwood SP0001, a speaker system that is made out of glass. To make everything really simple, this system is really attractive. It would be perfect in the home of every single person that loves cool gadgets. The Kenwood SP0001 comes in 2 versions: one with extra LED lights and the other without them. Unfortunately there is one big downside. Even if these speakers are not really powerful (just 10 W per each speaker), the Kenwood SP0001 costs a nifty $1,000. HMMM, that is a little too much for us but considering the fact that you will mostly find it in Japan, it might be successful.

Phenom Phone Watch

Phenom Phone Watch

Phenom Phone Watch

The watches industry is truly something. Just when you think that you heard about them all another one appears. This was exactly the case with this Phenom Phone Watch. We do know that there are a lot of similar gadgets on the market but this one stands out a little, especially due to the design. It makes you want to take a closer look at the Phenom Phone Watch. We are basically talking about a phone and a watch, all put into one (even if most phones out there also have watches).

The Phenom Phone Watch does not offer many fascinating features. It comes with a touchscreen display (1.3 inches with 260000 pixels), included bluetooth, radio, mp3, wav, mp4, gif, jpg and midi support, a camera of 1.3 megapixels and other features you would expect from a basic mobile phone. On the whole we can say that this gadget is a lot more than others on the market but the biggest problem still remains: why would you need a mobile phone watch when you can have a watch and a mobile phone? Still, if you are considering the Phenom Phone Watch you should know that you have to get ready to pay $295 for it.

The Phenom is another phone watch to hit the market. Unlike several others this actually looks like it could be quite good. It is named the SpecialOPS and is a GSM phone watch that has a touchscreen on the face with a numeric keypad on the strap. It is capable of playing MP3 and MP4 files.

The watch has a microphone and speakers built in along with a digital video camera, MicroSD slot and Bluetooth allowing you to connect up a headset. Phenom claim that the provided stylus can also be used for taking notes although I am not convinced myself that it would be practical to write on such a small screen.

Apple warns of overheating iPhones

iphone-3gs-overheat-message

Amidst rumors of overheating iPhones since shortly after the iPhone 3GS was launched, Apple has finally released the first acknowledgment that there might really be an issue with the iPhone regarding excessive temperatures. Various sites on the internet have posted reports of problems with the iPhone due to excessive heat such as shortened battery life, shut downs and even discoloration of the device itself. Now Apple has officially issued a warning about operating and storing the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS in places with too much heat.

Apple suggests to only operate the iPhone 3G and 3GS in temperatures between 32º to 95º F (0º and 35º C) and to only store the device between temps of -4º to 113º F (-20º and 45º C). Using or storing the iPhone in temperatures beyond this range can cause the device to stop charging (which could explain a shortened battery life), a dimmer display or a weak signal.

Apple also provided an example of a warning screen (pictured above) that may appear if you are using your iPhone in temps that are too hot. It shows a warning icon and tells you that the iPhone “needs to cool down” before it can be used, but does give an option to use it anyway (for an emergency).

Some examples that could cause the iPhone to overheat include leaving it in a car on a sunny day and using resource-intensive applications such as GPS tracking or listening to music, combined with direct sunlight.

SanDisk MP3 player sells its slotMusic

SanDisk Sansa announced today slotMusic Player, a player very economical intended specifically for media slotMusic, these albums sold in the form of microSD cards containing music in MP3 format.

SanDisk MP3 player

The small device that merely a microSD card slot, some buttons and dispense boarding a screen is sold only $ 20. For $ 35 it is also available in a version customized to the colors of a group or artist, with the latter album. It is also capable of reading any microSD card on which are stored music in MP3 or unprotected WMA. It supports in theory cards with a capacity of up to 16 GB, although its ergonomics and lack of screen are not adapted to find a piece of several hundred.

With the support staffs, SanDisk intends to propose an alternative to the CD by offering music without digital lock on a card format widespread. Albums are therefore compatible with many mobile phones and portable digital listening requires no computer or Internet connection. The few albums and artists, such as Abba, Jimi Hendrix, Keane, Pussy Cat Dolls, Rihanna or Usher, are already on sale overseas. With this little device, SanDisk offers a ready solution to employment for those who do not have a compatible microSD.

The albums and the player are not yet available in the USA but SanDisk plan to commercialize the old continent during the year 2009.

Flip Ultra Video Camera with Built-In USB Stick

Flip Ultra

The quest for the coolest gadget for many people ultimately boils down to finding a device that merges form, usability, usefulness, and time saving in one. When I think of the time wasted using a lot of video capture tools, it blows my mind that a more time efficient way of shooting a video and uploading it to your computer hasn’t been a key innovation from major gadget producers.

I think I’ve finally found that mix of effectiveness and ease of transfer in the Flip Ultra Video Camera. While it’s not the perfect gadget for the pro video photographer among us, it’s mix of over simplified usability and accessories makes it a great tool for the amateur shooter.

Possibly the coolest feature the Flip offers is its simple flip-out USB stick, which makes uploading videos as simple as whipping out the on-board peripheral and plugging it right into your port. The video transfer couldn’t be any easier unless it did it for you (which it probably will someday.)

Flip Water Housing

Even more impressive is the line of accessories that Flip is bringing to the table for such a low-end device. They already offer an Action Mount, which is pretty much a standard tripod screw mount which can be attached to almost any surface. Even more exciting, Flip is planning on releasing an Underwater Housing unit soon, which will proved a safe enclosure for your camcorder if you want to capture those pool shots when you’re having some fun in the sun. For the price of $140 for a 2GB Flip Ultra, we’d say this is quite the steal for the amateur shooter or vlogger.

EVGA USB Video cards are the cheap and easy way to add an extra monitor

A few years ago I acquired my first video card that took more than a product. I remember shortly after coming on a monitor available that I quickly made a space on my desk. Since then I've never considered going back to a simpler configuration monitor. While almost every video card that you find on the shelf has at least two sorties, many desktop mid-span do not have this option. Rather than force you to crack open your case, these new maps external USB EVGA are a simple way to add an additional display to your desktop.

These adapters UV Plus + are based on technology from DisplayLink, which was developed to make adding additional monitors as easy as plugging in a USB cord. There will be two different models, UV12 and UV16. The UV12 support resolutions up to 1280 x 1024 while UV16 goes up to 1600 x 1200. No official assessment has been confirmed, although if both the retail for well below $ 100.
