You may want to save Google Document file into a .doc (similar to Microsoft Word file) into your computer, flash drive or external hard drive. It is very simple to save a copy of your created online Google Docs document file.
1. Click on File on the top menu.
2. A drop down menu will appear. Choose Download File As.
3. You will be given choices to save a copy of your created document in several formats. Select Word to download or save a copy of it into your computer in .doc as same as the document you create in Microsoft Word.
Google Docs is a good alternative to Microsoft Office. The features, even though not as extensive as Microsoft Office, but enough for you to create a basic document. Give it a try and see if it suit your need.
